Cosmetic Dentistry

Everyone wants that movie star smile.  The ability to walk into a room and light it up with an impeccable set of teeth is invaluable.  Not only can it help you secure a better social and business life, but it can bolster your self-confidence.

We want to help you achieve that effect.  While a healthy set of teeth and gums is the first step to dental care, a necessary follow up is the attainment of a glamorous collection of pearly whites.  We offer a number of cosmetic dentistry services in this arena that will help you reach your desired end point.  After our initial consultation, we will work with you to develop a course of action that is right for you.

Cosmetic Dentistry Options:

Teeth Whitening

The least invasive and most common form of cosmetic dentistry is teeth whitening.  We offer two basic methods for teeth whitening: (1) custom fit dental trays with whitening solution and (2) laser teeth whitening.  Dental trays are an effective and affordable option.  Our trays will hug every curve of your teeth to ensure that whitening occurs in an even fashion.  The drawback is that the trays must be worn daily for 30 minutes to an hour.  In contrast, laser teeth whitening happens in a single office visit in under an hour, though repeated treatments can continue to improve the whiteness of a smile.  It is slightly more expensive than trays, but more efficient and effective.

The next level up in cosmetic dentistry is dental bonding.  Bonding is a procedure that uses a durable resin which bonds to the tooth to restore or improve its shape and color.  This is a very cost effective procedure to improve one or several teeth that may have partially decayed or cracked.  The procedure does not require anesthesia and can be applied to multiple teeth in one visit.  Our staff is trained to carefully apply and sculpt the resin to provide you with the optimal aesthetic effect for your mouth.

A crown is a cap that is placed over the original tooth.  It is affixed to the tooth by highly durable cement.  Our cosmetic dentistry practice recommends the use of crowns in several situations: (1) to protect an already weakened tooth from further damage, (2) to fix a broken or cracked tooth, (3) to protect a brittle tooth with a very large filling, or (4) to encase a discolored tooth.  Crowns are more durable than bonding and are less likely to crack or break.

Porcelain Veneers

The ultimate treatment in cosmetic dentistry is porcelain veneers.  Veneers are a state of the art solution and an extremely popular option for our patients.  We have helped a great number of people achieve a dazzling smile via porcelain veneers.  The process involves encasing your entire tooth in a custom designed porcelain shell.

Once the shell has been created, we simply bond it to your existing tooth.  We can make custom fitted veneers for one or several teeth depending on each individual’s needs.  Veneers can be used to remedy the following issues: (1) discolored teeth, (2) worn down or chipped teeth, (3) teeth that are misaligned or misshaped, (4) and teeth with small gaps between them.  While it is a more expensive solution than bonding or crowns, it is extremely successful and durable.  In addition, veneers are highly resistant to stains.
